Andrea Alston

Andrea Alston is the owner of Alston’s Village Learning Center. At a young age she had a passion for working with children. In the 5th grade she volunteered to tutor the 1st graders at her school. At 15 years old Ms. Alston moved from her hometown of Hampton VA to Japan and it changed her life; it was there that she realized anything is possible with God. At 18 years old she attended Norfolk State University for pre-law.During the summers she interned at the pentagon's Joint Legal Services. At the end of her third summer working there she was offered a full-time position. She decided to move to Washington DC; attend University of Maryland for pre-law full time and work at the pentagon full time. She loved her job but found herself visiting the childcare center on site many times. September 11, 2001, Andrea was at her desk in the pentagon. After running out of the building and hitch hiking a ride to her house, she did a lot of soul searching. It was after that Andrea realized that her purpose was working with children.

A month later she started working as an assistant teacher at Bright Horizons Learning Center and she enrolled in Prince George's Community College for Child Development. At that time Andrea started planning for her childcare business. She worked in the private and public sector to develop ideas for her business. In 2006 Andrea graduated from Southeastern University with a BA in Child Development.

January 2007 God blessed Andrea to moved back to Hampton, VA and open the Alston’s Village Learning Center. In 2013 Alston’s Village Learning Center moved to a larger location to accommodate the customer’s needs. Andrea is now raising her daughter & dog, working on her first children's book and expanding Alston’s Village.
